Good Shepherd Church in Naperville's quilters received roughly 40 boxes of laundered, used sheets and duvets - more than 400 pieces of linen - from Hotel Arista, Naperville's only AAA Four Diamond hotel, this week. Members of the Good Shepherd Quilting Ministry use the linens as backing for the quilts they craft, bless at the Church, and then donate to homeless shelters and poverty-stricken third-world countries.
"They are a wonderful organization," said Hotel Arista Leading Housekeeping Supervisor Emily Swartz. "We donate linens frequently throughout the year, but typically in smaller quantities."
The donation of the linens is but one of several community initiatives Hotel Arista undertakes. Through its partnership with Clean the World® Hotel Arista also donates used soap and bottled amenities that are sanitized and recycled for distribution in poverty stricken countries, a relationship that was launched in 2018 with 2,500 lbs. of donated products.
Employees of CityGate Hospitality, which manages Hotel Arista, CityGate Grille, Che Figata, Arista Spa & Salon and other businesses on the CityGate campus at Rte. 59 & Ferry Rd., also have donated to and volunteered with Aurora Interfaith Food Pantry to help local families in need throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, community members are invited to make donations increments of $5 to their choice among five local non-profits when ordering meals online at CityGate Grille and Che Figata, as part of a local fundraising campaign launched in May and seeded by the John P. Calamos Foundation.
