Special overnight guest package and candlelit dinning offered for March 28 worldwide observance
Hotel Arista at CITYGATE, Illinois' first LEED-certified hotel will offer a special guest package that includes shutting down all non-essential power at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, March 28, in observation of World Wildlife Foundation’s Earth Hour Lights Out worldwide event. Che Figata and Zorba Cocktail Bar, which are adjacent to the hotel, also will dim the lights for the observation, serving guests by candlelight.
In addition to its LEED certification, Hotel Arista demonstrates its commitment to the environment by maintaining GreenSeal™ Silver certification, and as a partner with Clean the World® a social enterprise dedicated to the mission of saving millions of lives around the world while simultaneously diverting hotel waste from landfills.
“The hotel package really is an opportunity for like-minded individuals and groups to come together in their commitment to a safe and healthy planet, staying in a luxury hotel that also is a green-hotel leader,” said Hotel Arista Director of Operations Kelly Van Diggelen who spearheads the observation. “The overnight package includes a dining credit that can be used toward the candlelit dinner at Che Figata, or Sunday brunch served at Zorba, or at some of the other sites at CITYGATE.”
Hotel Arista's environmental stewardship is evident throughout its operations. For example, it's in-room toiletries are Lather® products, a luxury line founded on a principle of natural products. Lather never tests on animals and it never works with any manufacturer that does. It uses EcoPure packaging, recycled materials and soy-based inks. And while Hotel Arista offers these products, staff knows some guests will bring along their own favorite brands, leaving behind partially used soaps and shampoos. Instead of disposing of these leftovers that lead to landfill, its partnership with Clean the World ensures that these products go from being a threat to the environment to providing much-needed resources in more than 127 countries.
Che Figata, the hotel's Italy-to-table restaurant, balances authentic, imported ingredients with those locally sourced, including managing a seasonal Chef's Garden on the CITYGATE campus.
At 8:30 p.m. the hotel will shut down to only essential power for the hour-long observation. The overnight package starting at $179 includes:
Hotel Arista's four-diamond accommodations
$50 food & beverage credit
overnight valet service with in and out privileges
